World Press Photo

What the hell is on this photo? It is some kind of military building and look like graves, but it probably isnt. Private toilets?

I looked at World Press Photos and most of them are 'boring' pictures of Thrid World or catastrophies. They are nice to watch, but they are too simple choices. I liked this moment from boxing and drinking. Especially the last one is interesting choice.

On the same topic, Estoninan newspaper Postimees is publishing weekly some wonderful press photos online here. Most photos are available at quite high resolution when you click on them second time.

Santa Barbara

Santa Barbara - a soap factory? Actually it is really nice place, full of feeling of wealthiness. For example, the freeway that passes through Santa Barbara is lined with nice flowerbeds. Don't know much more about this place though.

Scull rock ... or not

In Joshua Tree park me and Eva were looking for Scull rock. It was getting dark and although the rock was supposed to be just some half kilometer from our camping site, we could not find it. It was a bit scary in the darkness, since snakes, rabbits, mice, and lizards were all over. Anyway, this picture shows what we found and as it turns out, real scull rock looks like this. To me, they are both far from looking like a scull.

Iceberg

This is another installation in Tate Modern in London. It is always nice to step in there to see something special. I like the idea that museums are free so that if you feel the need to see van Gogh, then it takes just 10 minutes to do it. A side effect is that the National Gallery was pretty crowded.

I am amazed that museums in London still don't have any security control compared to the situation in Washington and New York, where metal detectors seem to be on entrances in every important building (fortunately not in shopping centers). Who knows, how long. I remember that two years ago I laughed at US airport rules where you had to take laptop out of bag for security check. Now this methodology is implemented in Europe too.
